Swabbie - A new player that has yet to be in a battle with the crew / a term of endearment for the hapless crew member charged with mopping or swabbing the decks

Crew - Players of the team

Seadog - Captain or MVP of the crew / a badge of honor by advocates of pirate pride

Grog Cook - Concessions Director

Quartermaster - Security Director

Crows Nest Gathering - Meeting of the Captain, Mateys, and the Pieces of Eight

Brethren Court - Pieces of Eight meeting open to the crew

Battle - Game

Booty - a Win on Game Day

Walk the Plank - 1) QB Sack 2) Being unprepared and failing at your attempt at an action 3) Being kicked off the team

Fillin the Bucket - Quality practice time. Filling the buckets with sweat from hard work.

Davy Jones Locker - The end of the season which happens with a lost in the playoffs

Keel Hauled - Player suspension / The act of throwing a man overboard, tied to a rope that goes beneath the ship, and then dragging him from one side to the other and hauling him out. Besides the torment of being dragged under water, this would drag the victim across the barnacles studded ship's hull and cause great pain and injury. This was a serious punishment and not administered lightly.

Avast - Yelled as a signal for everyman on board to stop what they are doing immediately

Jolly Roger - The pirate flag that flies at every pirate game

Peg Leg - A player with an leg, foot, or ankle injury.

Careened - A player out of battle due to a concussion / to pull the ship out of water in order to repair it

Sea Legs - the short time players have after a battle were walking and general actions are difficult.

Bring me me' red shirt - Ready for battle

Bring me me' brown pants - player or captain in trouble

Arr! - What pirates say while pillaging and plundering to show that they are serious and that this is not just a weekend thing.

Kraken - The refs - A large half controllable force who strike fear into the hearts of teams with their large yellow tentacles. Most critices believe that this is hogwash and a testament of a savvy disinformational campaign.
